Petroleum Engineer

By: Justin

Oil and gas in today's economy is very valuble. It powers automobiles, terrain vehicles and even heats our houses in the winter.Their also used to make paint, plastic etc. Petroleum engineers can ethier work out in the feild on an oil rig or in an office. Petroleum engineers mostly take surveys of the rock material and see if it has a good sign of quality oil. Once the engineers drill down into the oil bed all the decisions are to be made by the petroleum engineerist on what way they should recover the oil , an example of this would be pressure and extraction through pipes. Some Petroleum engineers work to make the right pressure for oil to flow from the pipes to straight to the refineries and a constant fluid motion.

Working conditions in the oil industry

Alot of engineers work for Oil and natural gas companies scattered throughout North America and even throughout the entire world ! Most Oil industry jobs tend to have alot of trevellign involved, most of the jobs in the oil industry involve travelling to exotic parts of the world. However , in Canada there are a variety of people working at home in canada. A prime example is in Alberta , more opportunity's are arising in other provinces today , such as Newfoundland and their discovery of their great oil bed. Engineers do alot of off shore working on oil rigs , even though they work on oil rigs they have shifts and switch up back and fourth oftebn being exposed to dirt and noise although some engineers have desk jobs.

Work Opportunity's

Work oppurtunity's that are related to petroleum engineering are chemical and civil engineering , enviromental tech , enviromental engineer,Geologist, hydologist,Industrial engineer,Mining engineer etc.
