Welcome to the St. Kevin's High Wiki on Careers in Oil & Gas

This project is a partnership between the Career Development students & staff at St. Kevin's High, Goulds, NL and the Newfoundland & Labrador Oil and Gas Week Steering Committee. Our mission is to construct a wiki related to Careers in Oil & Gas in Newfoundland and Labrador. Students will work in teams to accomplish this goal. Each team will select and research a specific topic related to the oil and gas industry, analyze the information through the lens of career development, and finally construct their webpage. The final product will be a compilation of many webpages -- our wiki!

What is a "Wiki"?

  • A wiki is a website created for the purpose of sharing information quickly and efficiently. The word "wiki" is from the Hawaiian for fast.
  • Any visitor to a wiki website can become a participant. If you are a member, you can create or edit the content without any special technical skills.
  • A wiki is continuously under revision. Its purpose is to share the creative process and is the product of many.
  • Wikipedia is the most well known example, with no specific "authors" but millions of "contributors".
  • The wikipedia article on wikis may be helpful http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki
  • This video (dated 2007) explains some background to wikis.
